The doctor's I saw were very professional, only positive things to report. The only thing I would change regards the first person I saw; she was speaking fast, almost quoting a script, then $190 was briefly mentioned as she continued speaking. I asked her to explain the procedure, what the money paid for, and what the doctor's needed from the information. I now plan to just get the insurance paid lens after speaking to the doctor's, and getting a better understanding, so I think the information/test was only needed if I wanted to get other types of lens that are paid out of pocket. I may not have needed the test, but I am not sure of the benefit to the Doctor when developing the lens.

I recently had cataract surgery on both eyes without sedation. The procedure was 100% successful and no pain. The entire staff and nurses were absolutely knowledgeable and answered all of my questions. Dr. Mark Mayo preformed the surgeries and done in less than ten minutes each time. I came to Eye Center of Texas because I want lasik surgery. I got the evaluation which was great having learned so much about eyes. I met with Dr. Wade who gave me options, talked to me and made me feel comfortable about the surgery. There was another doctor, during the evaluation, who told me that I had retina stretching and Dr. Wade and her both agreed that they had to be lasered before lasik, and it could be covered under insurance. Ok, I thought let's get it scheduled. I showed up on the day of lasering my retina and I got tested, this time, I wore warm clothes and I met the doctor who showed me on the image of my retina that he would fill in the cavities with scar tissue. All seemed reasonable. Then I was dilated so my vision was blurry, but I was asked to pay for a procedure that I understood, but cost almost $200 more than I was initially billed for. Meanwhile, I can't see well enough to read anything so I just signed that and my consent for surgery. Later, I was upset that I had signed, paid more money and did not understand the charges. Then it was time to get lasered. I'm in a dark room, there are machines all over and I told the doctor, I'm nervous, I told the others that I was nervous. I asked the doctor if this is painful, he said everyone has a different pain threshold. I asked how long it would take and he said 10-15 minutes. Then he tried to put this thing in my eye without warning or explaining what was happening so I asked. At this point I lost it. I was full on tearing up and crying. I couldn't breathe well because I had a mask on and it's getting all wet from tears. I keep talking to the doctor and asking him more questions, I asked for a timeline, I asked for breaks and he was not explaining anything. I was finally head in the machine and I flinched when he started because I DID NOT KNOW WHAT WAS HAPPENING. NO ONE EXPLAINED ANYTHING! Then he pushed my head in the machine and told me not to move. That was the first time he asked me to do anything. I was put into a worse state, but at least I was finally getting some direction. I kept talking and he said when I moved my mouth I was moving too much. There's a green laser shooting my eye which DID hurt and now I'm deep into this awful situation and the doctor says that he doesn't like to see patients so distressed and we can put me under anesthesia to do both eyes. I said oh no, we've come this far, finish it. I was not going to go through this again! I tried to breathe, and I did my best to ask for what I needed, but it was hard and I felt like my requests were not heard. I scheduled the other doctor for the other eye. All I wanted was a little compassion for what I was going through. No, overall it's not that painful, but I did not know what was going to happen. In conclusion, I feel all of this could have been avoided if: 1. I had gotten an itemized bill so I would know what I would be paying for when my eyes were NOT dilated. I was also unclear that each eye would cost that much, I thought the total for both eyes would be a certain amount. A clear explanation would have been helpful. 2. I had gotten play by play instructions about what was expected from me as a patient either written ahead of time or if one of the assistants had explained to me what was going to happen during the procedure. 3. I had been given an option and or recommendation to bring an advocate with me. 4. I had been given post op information about what to expect (like it's ok to see spots at first) and how to aid in the healing. If you go to this office be sure to ask for all the things I didn't and then your experience will be much better!

I have been on Glaucoma watch for a while. My initial sets of visits with the eye center of Texas ended 2011 when I was declared Glaucoma free. Thereafter when I was referred to an ophthalmologist again this year, I would only see them. What I appreciate the most is the fact that the doctors and interns are very diligent. They looked closely, they checked and rechecked and I am extremely happy with the outcome. I don't have Glaucoma, just very chronic dry eyes. They have been very consistent with me. I am very comfortable with their recommendations. This year, eye center of Texas is not in the network of my insurance, I had to pay out of pocket to see them just because I could not trust any other place. I called, got an appointment within 2 days , The icing on the cake is how they were able to help get my prescription covered and delivered to me within 2 working day. Great interpersonal skills, great professionalism, easy parking, nice comfortable environment. The tests took a LONG time, but it was well worth it :) . I would recommend them any time.

Tres días antes de la cita llame para saber si aceptaban el seguro medico y dijeron era aceptado. Un día antes de la cita volví a llamar y sra Etna o Eda después que le di el nombre del seguro medico me dijo que era aceptado, que todo iba bien y me aseguro todo estaba cubierto. Después que conduci una hora para llegar a cita y esperar 2 horas me dicen que seguro medico no es aceptado y el Dr Wilde no hará visita medica. Mi mamá tiene 90 años y tiene glaucoma, con mucho esfuerzo mi mamá se ha preparado para ir a visita médica. Espero que la administración corrija estos errores de su personal y verifique 1 semana antes el seguro medico de sus pacientes y no suceda otra vez. Mi mamá ha perdido tres semanas esperando cita con dr Wide y casi 3 horas en clínica, si le decían semanas antes que no aceptaban su seguro medico hubiera ido a otro medico para una visita de sus ojos. Que no se repita, es una falta de respeto.

I had an apoinment today 17/06/21. after 45 minutes someone told me that the clunic doesn't accept my insurance. Three dsy ago I called the doctor office someone told me that they accepted the insurance. Yesterday I called the eyes office , specific insursnce office, miss Etna o Eda told me after have the name of insurance, my insurance comer all, the clinic accept, no problem, but today i have a problem because the clinic no accepted my insuranceand and i couldn't atiende doctor. Why yesterday miss Etna o Eda told me my insurance no acepte the clinic. I am 90 years old and I have glaucoma. Total i wait two houars in clinic and more 1 houar for arrived a clinic. I hope the administración verify the insurance before the apoinment and it happens the day of apoinment. I lost time three week for this apoinment more three hours wait in clinic. When I would like un apoinment soon.

When I went to one room for an eye exam there was so much make-up on the plastic forehead rest, the nurse -tech had a very difficult time trying to wipe it off. She used several cleaning cloths "trying" to get it cleaned. I had an 8:30 am appointment, I am pretty sure I was the first patient of the day. That make-up had to had been there from the night before, it was gross, even more so with all the covid stuff.

Debra at the Bellaire location was the worst...not only did she have a bad attitude she wanted to argue about me wearing contacts. I never received a call to say not to wear contacts so they definitely charged me 185.00 + full coverage insurance. One of the worst experiences in my life due to them not communicating. I left the Eye Center with my 85 year old father in Pasadena feeling like I had made the best decision of my life. Everything went beautifully! The surgery went well and we were back for our post surgery visit. When we arrived I was excited with my father to have a good report. We entered knowing that we would have our temperatures taken and given the warnings about Covid-19. I was told I could not stay with my father and I explained that because of his age and neuropathy I was given permission to stay with him last time to be responsible for him falling. I was told again that I would not be able to stay (the decision of the door attendee). I again explained that I need to stay so the clinic would not be responsible for him falling and she accused me of threatening her and the clinic. She stated in front of the entire lobby that she would not nor the clinic be responsible for him falling. I was and am shocked! Again, let me say I was allowed in for the same reason on our first visit. The attendee was testy and rude. She brought over a wheel chair and insisted I leave and would be summoned in the car. I guess she took responsibility. She also embarrassed me in front of the employees at the desk. I am not an aggressive person, just a RESPONSIBLE party for my father! I expect a response so I can again enjoy my visits. I love the clinic and the surgeon and was planning appointments for myself and my wife! Please respond! Thanks

I think Dr. Wade did an excellent job on my first cataract surgery. I was able to see clearly almost immediately. After the second cataract surgery, I have had problems, mainly headaches. I don't have all of the records before me but I am not satisfied with the fact that every single time I went in, I saw a different doctor, even thought I did request an appointment with Dr. Wade. It seems like I was given a different reason for my headaches and problems with my vision each time I went in. At one point, I specifically requested an appointment with Dr. Wade and when I got to your office, I was told he was on Spring Break. I told them I wanted to reschedule with Dr. Wade and then CV happened. I had an appointment to see Dr. Mayo, which was suggested by one of the doctors I saw at the beginning because it was indicated I had droopy eyelids. And, again when I got there, I saw someone other than Dr. Mayo. I asked if he was there and he was. so I did get to see him. Overall, I feel satisfied with Dr. Wade and Dr. Mayo but very dissatisfied with your processes in seeing the doctor.

Through the Eye Center of Texas, I was introduced to Clear Lens Exchange, an elective surgery, similar to cataract surgery. I'm not a good patient - Analgesics and anesthesia doesn't work well on me (redhead) and my pain tolerance is very low. Really, really nice doctors. My mom is a diabetic and is losing her vision. The doctors are doing everything possible to help her from completely losing her vision. Very helpful, compassionate, but at the same time don't sugar coat it, which we appreciate. When we were referred to them I was told to plan on several hours, which is what happened but when you see all the tests they had to do, then talk to the doctor you understand why it takes so long.

Most recent visit was to do YAG because vision deteriorated over 3 yr period. This visit was streamlined, Bellaire office got me in within days of calling, no wait times from check in to procedure. Only two issues prevented a rating a 10. First, the place was too cold in the two waiting rooms and 6 exam rooms I was moved to during my 4.5 hours (2:30pm to 7:00pm) there. They should advise people to wear a light jacket or sweater if they are not going to adjust their thermostats. Upon checking out the check-out lady at the front desk said she has heard the person who calls patients sometimes mention bringing warm clothing, but I received no such warning. I did OK, but my wife would have frozen. Second, there was too much time spent waiting for each next step in my very thorough exam. Some test seemed to duplicate what my regular doctor's office had performed, so I don't know why that info wasn't passed along to the Eye Center to reduce time and costs. I know they have to wait a while for eye drops to dilate or numb the eyes, but not nearly this much time. At least I had a book with me and had time to read many pages. I would have gone crazy or walked out if not for my book. I didn't see magazines in the exam rooms, but I didn't look for them either since I had my book. Other than these cold and time issues, all the many staff who did various tests and moved me to the next exam room and the two doctors who saw me were very nice, professional, and competent. The primary doctor who saw me after all the others confirmed what my regular eye doctor found that led to this referral. I expected to have to come back for a second visit to have the needed procedure performed, but the doctor performed it around 6:30pm so I would not have to return other than for a follow-up in two weeks. the procedure only took perhaps 5 minutes. I greatly appreciated the doctor working late to complete my work in a single visit. I think they had one more patient behind me. So, I would recommend Eye Center Of Texas and Dr. Paul Stewart for any advance procedures your normal eye doctor cannot perform. I'm having no problem with my procedure, but the doctor and the check-out staff were very careful to advise me of potential problems and to request I let them know asap of any problems so they could have me come back in. So, just wear a jacket and take a book or something else to occupy your time, and you will be in good hands at Eye Center Of Texas. Free parking, too.
