Yasir Ahmed, M.D.

Dr. Ahmed grew up in Baltimore, MD, graduating with a major in information technology from Eastern Technical High School. His undergraduate studies took him to the University of Maryland where he majored in physiology and neurobiology and graduated Cum Laude with Honors Citation and Gemstone Citation (2008). He received his medical degree from Brown University Alpert Medical School (2012) where he gained additional experience through rotations at the esteemed Penn State and Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. Dr. Ahmed completed his medical internship at Harvard’s Mount Auburn Hospital (2012) and his ophthalmology residency at Penn State (2013). From there, his medical career took him to Wills Eye Hospital, Thomas Jefferson University where he completed his cornea and external disease fellowship (2016) and served as attending for the Wills resident clinics and surgeries.

Before Eye Center of Texas, Dr. Ahmed worked in the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton area at a high-volume surgical practice where he was one of the only cornea specialists in the region. This unique opportunity allowed him to start the cornea surgical specialty at the practice.

Dr. Ahmed has 25+ publications and presentations covering topics ranging from cataract surgery to virtual surgery simulators and is a member of the Texas Medical Association, Harris County Medical Society, American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons.

His passions don’t just end with ophthalmology. Dr. Ahmed can speak English, Urdu, and Punjabi with some fluency in Spanish, is a sports/fitness enthusiast, loves photography, cars, and music, and has traveled throughout the United States, Pakistan, and 13 different countries in Europe. Dr. Ahmed loves spending quality time with his family.
