Nicole Lifson, M.D.

Nicole Lifson, MD is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in medical retina with a focus on treatment of complex retinal disorders including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, ocular infections, and vascular disorders. Additionally, she practices general ophthalmology and performs cataract surgery.

Dr. Lifson grew up in Syracuse, NY, and received her undergraduate degree at the University of Rochester. She completed her medical education at SUNY Upstate Medical University where she graduated cum laude and was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. Dr. Lifson’s training consisted of a transitional internship at Newton-Wellesley Hospital in Newton, MA, followed by an ophthalmology residency at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University in Providence, RI, and a subsequent Medical Retina fellowship at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary in Boston, MA.

Dr. Lifson has been recognized with several honors and awards, including the Robert Eich Award for the highest academic achievement in medical school, the SUNY Upstate Medical University Dean’s Letter of Commendation, the AMWA Glasgow-Rubin Citation for Academic Achievement, Merck Manual Award, and was the recipient of the Charles F. Clark Merit Scholarship.

Dr. Lifson’s research has spanned various topics, including the effects of hyperbaric oxygen therapy on central retinal artery occlusion, the use of 3D-printed technology for eyelid laceration repair, and the ophthalmic manifestations of posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome. She has authored numerous publications and presentations featured in peer-reviewed journals and other media. She is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and a proud member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

Outside of professional commitments, Dr. Lifson enjoys spending time exploring the Houston dining scene, skiing, and spending time with her family and loved ones.
