Larry Puthenparambil, M.D.

Larry Puthenparambil M.D. is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in the medical, laser, and surgical management of vitreo-retinal disorders.

Dr. Puthenparambil was born in the Middle East and came to the United States at a young age. His family moved to Friendswood and he attended Clear Brook High School. He received his undergraduate education at Texas A&M University, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a major in Biology in 2004. He then moved back to Houston to attend the Baylor College of Medicine, he graduated near the top of his class in 2008. Dr. Puthenparambil completed his medical internship (2008) at Baylor, and his Ophthalmology surgical specialty residency (2012), and Retina subspecialty fellowship (2014) training at the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas, TX.

Before joining the Eye Center of Texas in 2020, Dr. Puthenparambil trained numerous ophthalmology residents and retina fellows as a faculty member of the Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Science at The University of Texas Medical Branch Galveston (UTMB).

Dr. Puthenparambil’s research interests have included macular degeneration as well as surgical management of retinal detachments. He has presented research findings in numerous ophthalmic journals and at national meetings.

Medical society memberships include the American Society of Retina Specialists, American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Retina Forum.

When not at work, Dr. Puthenparambil enjoys traveling and cooking different global cuisines with his wife and two little boys. He avidly follows the Houston Rockets, Astros, and Texans but is most passionate about Aggie Football!
