Dr. Nicholas Bell is a highly regarded board-certified ophthalmologist with a specialization in the comprehensive management of glaucoma. Recognized as one of Houston’s Top Doctors by Houstonia and H Texas magazines, as well as Top Ophthalmologist in Houston by the International Association of Ophthalmologists, Dr. Bell’s expertise extends to medical, laser, and surgical approaches in treating glaucoma. He also excels in general ophthalmology, performing both traditional and laser cataract surgery with various intraocular lenses.

Before joining Eye Center of Texas in 2020, Dr. Bell served as a faculty member at The University of Texas Medical School at Houston (UTHealth), where he trained ophthalmology residents and glaucoma fellows. He held key leadership positions, including Chief of Ophthalmology at Lyndon B. Johnson General Hospital and Director of the Glaucoma Service and Glaucoma Fellowship training program. Dr. Bell, promoted to Clinical Professor, held endowed professorships during his tenure.

Dr. Bell’s impactful research focuses on advancing the understanding and management of angle closure glaucoma and exploring medical and surgical treatment options. He has contributed to clinical studies, presented findings in various ophthalmic journals and national/international meetings, and co-authored a textbook titled “Complications of Glaucoma Surgery.”
