Houston Area Visian ICL
The Visian ICL (Implantable Collamer Lens)
Many people who are not good candidates for LASIK due to thin corneas, dry eyes and high refractive error can now experience vision correction with the Visian ICL. The Visian ICL is also a great option for people who are looking for alternatives to LASIK. The Visian ICL is an implant… and it’s different from LASIK because it doesn’t involve a laser to treat the cornea. During ICL surgery, Dr. Wade will create a tiny incision in the eye to insert the implantable contact lens behind the colored part of the eye, known as the iris. The lenses are invisible once implanted and patients will not be able to feel them. The ideal ICL candidate is between the ages of 21-45 with high levels of nearsightedness and without significant astigmatism. Another added benefit to ICL surgery is that the procedure is completely reversible and offers additional UV protection for the eyes.
