Your pre-op evaluation will last between 2 and 2.5 hours.  It is very comprehensive.  We will review all of your options for you, determined by your age, vision problems, general and eye health, lifestyle and overall goals.  At the end of your evaluation, if there is any question about your candidacy for a given procedure, your results will be reviewed by a LASIK eye surgeon.

There is no charge for this evaluation.

What are your success rates vs. your rates for enhancements (follow-up corrective surgery)?

Our LASIK eye surgeons have an exceptional success rate.  Our enhancement rate is around 3% while the national average is somewhere between 9 and 12%.

What kind of equipment should I expect my LASIK eye surgeon to use and do you move it around? (Sometimes the mobile LASIK equipment is less reliable than the larger, stationary equipment)

Your LASIK eye surgeon will use the VISX CustomVue Star 4 laser for the actual reshaping of the cornea.  This is the latest in LASIK technology, and we do not move it.  While your evaluation exam might take place in one of our neighborhood locations, the LASIK surgery itself will take place at our Bellaire office.

What is included in the cost of Lasik surgery at your practice?

The initial LASIK evaluation is free (some other LASIK centers charge for this).  Even if you don't have surgery with us, we don't charge the patient for this exam.  You also receive a 'limited lifetime warranty' which is explained at the time of surgery, and if you have surgery, you will have follow-up exams at no additional charge.  These follow-ups are one day, one week, 6 weeks, and 3-4 months after surgery.  If you need to be seen by your LASIK eye surgeon or his staff any time within your first year after surgery, there is no charge.

In addition to the LASIK eye surgeon that performs your surgery, we have a team of well-trained staff including optometrists, techs, counselors, and administrators to support you throughout your entire experience with The Eye Center of Texas.
